Does the Cabbage Soup Diet Really Work?

CabbageIf you’ve been trying to lose weight for awhile, you’ve probably heard of the cabbage soup diet before. Basically, you eat cabbage and not much of anything else for a week. You’re allowed to throw in a bit of fruit, potatoes and beef, but not enough to cover your daily nutritional requirements.

The cabbage soup diet is associated with high fat burning properties, so it’s not surprising that it’s well known as a quick fix to lose weight quickly.

The reality is this. Any diet you go on that drastically reduces calories will most likely result in weight loss. But is it healthy? I think NOT.

I have two important questions when it comes to this diet.

1. Why is it that nobody has taken credit for this diet?
2. Why do people still use this diet after so many experts tell us to avoid it because of extreme calorie and nutritional restrictions?

Another reality is that you’ll gain any weight that you’ve lost right after you go off the diet. You may actually gain more because your body’s metabolism will have suffered and will start storing food eaten as fat in preparation for another ‘starvation’ period.

If you want to burn fat and lose weight the right way, stick to listening to the experts like Tom Venuto. Another option is a diet program that actually works, FatLoss4Idiots. My mom has been losing weight successfully on this diet, and she’s been keeping it off after struggling for years.

As for the cabbage soup diet (or the garbage soup diet as I like to call it), it’s time to eliminate it from your list of things to try.
