Eating soup and eggs as part of a healthy diet
Here’s a story you’ll probably find interesting. According to American researchers, people who ate low-calorie soup as a first course for lunch ate fewer calories in total compared to those who didn’t eat soup.
When you think about it, it really does make sense, but until now I never really thought about it at all. I never ordered soup at restaurants and rarely had the salad for fear that I would eat too many calories by the time my meal was finished. Turns out, I should have been ordering the soup all along.
Another interesting tid-bit I read in this article was the fact that:
…overweight or obese women who ate two eggs a day for breakfast for eight weeks as part of a low-fat diet lost 65 per cent more weight and had an 83 per cent greater reduction in waist circumference, compared to others on diets with similar numbers of calories.
How awesome is that? If you love eggs, then dig in. I’ve just started eating eggs for breakfast lately, and now I’m glad that I do. I find that my mornings are a lot more productive when I eat eggs because of the energy they provide.
My favorite way to eat them is soft-boiled with two slices of brown toast. So if you feel guilty when you eat eggs for breakfast, stop! Just make sure you’re eating them in a healthy way, and not topped with a pound of bacon and grease.
