Now that I’ve reached my goal weight, I’m focusing more on getting toned and building muscle. I’ve been tightening up my fluffy areas, and the most fun and effective way I’ve done this is by belly dancing. I’ve also been shoveling insane amounts of snow which has pumped up my arms a bit, but that’s not near as much fun as belly dancing.
My favourite form of belly dancing is Tribal Fusion Belly Dancing. It’s fun and modern – and a GREAT form of exercise. Rachel Brice is by far my favourite performer. Her DVD, Rachel Brice: Bellydance Arms and Posture has been in my DVD player for weeks. I still can’t get to the end because I’m too wiped out after the beginning, but BOY OH BOY will this give you a workout. I could barely walk the first time I tried it, but it felt so good since I was exercising muscles I didn’t know I had.
If you love to dance and you’re in the mood for burning some fat and shimmying your way to flatter abs, here’s a list of some great belly dance instructional DVD’s to have in your arsenal.
