The Canada Food Guide will be revamped and we’ll see the finished product sometime this spring. The link between diet and health has evolved so much over the years that Health Canada felt a new Food Guide was necessary to make sure Canadians are eating as healthy as possible. The current guide was published in 1992.
- Part of the revision will be to focus more on grains, vegetables and alternate sources of protein which vegetarians should find helpful.
- Due to increasing numbers of immigrants in Canada, non-traditional Canadian foods will be included in the new guide.
- Suggested serving sizes will also change due to the growing number of overweight people in Canada.
