Combat the Late-Night Cravings

It’s recommended that you stop eating at least 3 hours before you go to bed if you want to maintain or lose weight. But what do you do when it’s 9 p.m. and you’re dying for a snack?

I’ll tell you what I do when my husband plops down on the couch with a huge bowl of chips while we’re watching our evening shows.

Instead of giving in to temptation and stuffing my face with greasy calories, I make myself a cup of green tea. It has zero calories and satisfies me enough that I don’t break down and cave into the chip monster.

I’ve just started drinking green tea, and I love it. When I drank tea before, it would always include milk and at least 2 tablespoons of sugar. I quit the sugar and milk cold turkey and after only a few cups, I find that drinking plain green tea is really good. I enjoy the taste and I even crave it now.

For evenings, I make decaffeinated tea, but during the day I make a regular cup of caffeinated.

Try the green tea challenge yourself. Instead of eating before bed, opt for the zero calorie tea. See what kind of difference it will make for you in two weeks.
